Deke: Besides being a man with a football-shaped head, Deke is a pleasant if simple fellow who seems to prefer wearing a Delta Sigma sweatshirt despite not belonging to the Delta Sigma chapter of any fraternity (including Delta Kappa Epsilon, which his name suggests might have been appropriate). Deke enjoys a good stick of gum and likes being around people. Really, "enthusiastic" is his middle name. If he has a middle name. Or a last name, for that matter. |
| Rhoda: As Adam had his Eve, so Deke has his Rhoda. Of course, by that comparison Eve spent a lot of time either staring agog at the father of humanity for saying something stupid, or pounding him over the head with sticks. While Deke isn't truly stupid, Rhoda is considerably smarter and more cynical than he is. Which if you think about it is a damned cliché, but what can you do? Rhoda looks rather like a hand puppet, especially in the summer dresses she prefers. She also wears a string of pearls, probably to make certain the reader knows she's supposed to be a girl. |

The Demiurge: The Creative Impulse given manifest divine form. The Demiurge is the prime creator of the universe and the motivator behind the events that happen to Deke and Rhoda, all in the name of the art the Demiurge is driven to create.
Sadly, a creative impulse does not necessarily denote creative ability. So far, the Demiurge seems to suck on toast.
